Youngsters strive for a Noble Cause
Ayudh India working with Saukhyam Team
Ayudh India is the youth wing of the Mata Amritanandamayi Math. Youngsters in various parts of India come together in the service of mankind inspired by the teachings of their beloved Amma, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi.
Ayudh chapters in various Indian cities have worked with the Saukhyam team to further the cause of sustainable menstruation. Not only have members switched to reusable pads themselves, but also these teams have conducted workshops to take the message of sustainability to thousands.
Bengaluru Ayudh team events in Sep and Nov 2019
The Bengaluru Ayudh team, guided by Sampoojya Swami Amritageetananda Puri, participated in an event that was organized by the Bruhath Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike during September 11-13, 2019 to promote alternatives to plastic products. At the three-day event, over 100 people made the resolve to switch to Saukhyam Reusable Pads and purchased pads for their use and for the use of their family members. The team was also invited to conduct awareness sessions at various schools and colleges in Bengaluru.
On November 15, 2019, the team came together again for a similar event, this time at the campus of Infosys. Saukhyam Reusable Pads were showcased to and bought by a large number of Infosys employees.
The Mangalore Ayudh team participates in free distribution
The Mangalore Ayudh team, led by Sampoojya Swamini Mangalamrita Prana, conducted workshops on sustainable menstruation at schools, colleges and organizations in the city. The highlight of their campaign was the free distribution of Saukhyam pads to girls of Shraddhanand Sevashram by their beloved Amma. Many of these girls received free disposable pads through a Government scheme every month. However, motivated by a desire to not create waste and do their bit for the environment, and finding that Saukhyam pads offer greater comfort than disposable pads, the girls all happily made a shift.
Hyderabad Ayudh team at Google HQ
Yet another team that put forth tremendous effort for the cause was the Hyderabad Ayudh team. Guided by Br. Nirgamamrita Chaitanya and Br. Mokshamrita Chaitanya, the team stole the show at the Google HQ on Menstrual Hygiene Day, May 28, 2019. The girls presented a short skit that summarized the benefits of reusable menstrual pads and the harmful effects of using disposable pads. Saukhyam was suitably showcased as many women came forward to make a switch. Googlers Raylene Paul, Santosh Nair and Subramanyam mentored the Ayudh team as it went on to conduct workshops at several locations around Hyderabad.
Ayudh International participation
Ayudh chapters in countries like the US have also worked with the Saukhyam team. Blessing bags were distributed to homeless women with Saukhyam pads.
We welcome participation from more Ayudh teams. A woman who makes the switch to reusable pads not only saves money but also protects her body from exposure to dangerous toxins.
